Hello everyone!
My name is Estela Bernice Diaz and I am a currently a junior in the Sociology Department, also receiving a certificate in Gender & Sexuality Studies. I am originally from Baldwin Park, CA and I will be spending my Spring semester in Stockholm, Sweden. As of now, I know very little about Sweden and Swedish culture (except that Swedish meatballs are excellent) but I'm excited to be in a completely new country. I made the decision to study abroad in Sweden during my freshman year of college when I read an article about a gender-neutral kindergarten in Stockholm. I began to read more about Sweden's political efforts to achieve equality and quickly decided that I had to visit Sweden during my junior year. Upon arriving to Sweden, I'll be excited to learn how both equality and inequality manifests itself in a country on the forefront of equality.
