Meet Caroline!

Hi! My name is Caroline Davidsen and I'm a junior in the Politics Department studying Comparative Politics. Next semester I'll be studying in Madrid and I cannot wait for the experience! Growing up in Washington, D.C. to an American mom and a Danish dad who met working for the United Nations, I've grown up with a love of travel and experiencing new cultures. Last summer I interned in an international organization and realized the importance of mastering a second language so I decided to enhance my spanish-speaking skills in Madrid. Although I've been to Europe, I've never been to Spain and I'm excited to go at a time when the current political and economic state is so volatile. In addition, I can't wait to travel to different cities in the country and hopefully to a couple additional countries in Europe! I can't wait for the experience and please feel free to send me an email at davidsen@princeton.edu if you'd like to be in touch!

Meet Bernice!

Hey, my name is Bernice Fokum hailing from the small capital city of Springfield, IL. In the past years I have been so blessed to see some amazing places in the world and I am so incredibly anxious to embark on this next adventure of studying abroad in Havana, Cuba! I am a junior right now, studying Anthropology and Global Health Policy and I hope to enter medical school in the near future. Cuba will be a fascinating place to see a rich eclectic culture and to study a world renown health care system. Of course, perfecting my Spanish will be a welcome bonus to the trip--I participated in Princeton in Spain two summers ago and decided that I *needed* to hit Latin America. You can look forward to reading about my quest to become a professional salsa dancer throughout the semester (Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights, anyone? haha)!

Peace & Love,
Bernice

Meet Estela!

Hello everyone!
My name is Estela Bernice Diaz and I am a currently a junior in the Sociology Department, also receiving a certificate in Gender & Sexuality Studies.  I am originally from Baldwin Park, CA and I will be spending my Spring semester in Stockholm, Sweden.  As of now, I know very little about Sweden and Swedish culture (except that Swedish meatballs are excellent) but I'm excited to be in a completely new country.  I made the decision to study abroad in Sweden during my freshman year of college when I read an article about a gender-neutral kindergarten in Stockholm.  I began to read more about Sweden's political efforts to achieve equality and quickly decided that I had to visit Sweden during my junior year.  Upon arriving to Sweden, I'll be excited to learn how both equality and inequality manifests itself in a country on the forefront of equality.

Meet Miryam!

Miryam is a junior in the History department with a concentration in Latin American studies. You might be thinking, Latin American studies, then why is she in South Africa? Having been born in Bogota, Colombia, and grown up in Miami, she has spent a lot of time throughout Latin America and wanted to explore a new place and culture. What better place than the beautiful University of Cape Town? Miryam looks forward to learning about a new culture, studying South African history through her independent work, experiencing student life at another university, and getting to know other South African and international students while there. She's also really excited for the many adventures in South Africa: shark cage diving, surfing, hiking...who knows what awaits!

Meet Missy!

My name is Ezinna "Missy" Nwokonko, and I am a Politics major from Basking Ridge, New Jersey. During the spring 2013 semester, I will be studying in Salamanca, Spain, through IES Abroad. I will be taking classes both with the IES program and at the University of Salamanca. Having lived in New Jersey by entire life, I chose to go abroad because I want to experience a new culture while rekindling my love for the Spanish language. While I have traveled to both Africa and Asia, I have never visited Europe. Studying in Spain will allow me to both push my limits and develop as an individual, while receiving a unique educational experience. I honestly don't know what to expect upon arriving in Spain, but I am excited to find out!

Meet Chidalu!

Hi Everyone!
My name is Chidalu Onyenso, or ChiChi as some of my friends call me.  I am a junior in the Politics Department  at Princeton and a getting a certificate in Political Economy and Portuguese Language and Culture.  I was born and raised in New Jersey and am a citizen of both the United States and Nigeria.  I studied Spanish almost all of my life, and even studied abroad in Mexico and Spain in my High School years.  When I got to college, I wanted to try something a bit different so I enrolled inthe Accelerated Portuguese course.  Along with my love for Portuguese, my interest in development and multiculturalism makes Brazil a perfect place for me to spend a semester abroad.  Along with expanding my vocabulary and increasing my fluency in Portuguese, I hope to learn more about the history and mechanisms behind Brazil's astonishing economic development and complex, multicultural society.  It's going to be a very interesting six months, but I am so excited!
